Jaxx Fall to Suns, Lose First of Post-Season

The Cubs' Double-A affiliate dropped its first game of the post-season on Wednesday, falling 1-0 at Jacksonville in game two of the Southern League Championship Series. The best-of-five series is now tied 1-1.

Renyel Pinto continued his post-season dominance, holding Jacksonville scoreless through the first seven innings. He surrendered the game's only run, a Tony Abreu RBI single, in the eighth after Adam Greenberg struck out with the tying run at third in the top half of the inning. Pinto went 7.2 innings, surrendering three hits to go with seven strikeouts and four walks.

West Tenn threatened in the ninth inning with runners at first and second before Buck Coats grounded into a game-ending 6-4-3 double play. The Jaxx also had two on in the first against Jacksonville starter Eric Hull, but Brandon Sing struck out to end the inning. Hull allowed five hits in seven innings for a no-decision. He struck out nine without allowing a walk. Right-hander Jon Broxton got the win with two innings in relief. The Jaxx out-hit the Suns 8-3, but stranded six on base.

The series now shifts to West Tenn for games three and four, and if necessary game five.
