Iowa Cubs Announce Roster

Much anticipation was building over the weekend as the Cubs' farm teams received their 2006 rosters for the start of the upcoming minor league season.

The Iowa Cubs, Chicago's Triple-A affiliate, was the first to release their roster on Sunday. Here are the contents of that roster:

Coaching Staff

Iowa will be managed again by skipper Mike Quade, who enters his fourth season as the club's manager. Pitching coach Alan Dunn enters his first season as the Iowa's pitching coach after spending last season at Double-A West Tenn. Serving as Iowa's hitting coach is Von Joshua, also previously with the Double-A staff.

Former MLB all-star Pat Listach, the team's previous hitting coach, will manage West Tenn in 2006. Rick Kranitz, Iowa's previous pitching coach, joined manager Joe Girardi's staff as the Florida Marlins pitching coach this past off-season.

The I-Cubs will face the Iowa Hawkeyes in an exhibition game Tuesday at Principal Park in Des Moines and open the regular season Thursday at home against the Albuquerque Isotopes.
