Auditioning for '07

With an eye toward next year, the Cubs are giving some fairly new faces a chance to make some noise in the remaining weeks of the season.

At age 26, Rich Hill and Ryan Theriot may be late bloomers in their professional careers, but both are making the most of the time they've seen in Chicago since being recalled from the minor leagues and Triple-A Iowa.

The two helped spark a 6-2 win over San Francisco Friday to kick off Labor Day Weekend and snap a six-game Cubs losing streak.

Theriot, who had five hits on Wednesday against the Pirates at PNC Park, hit his first career major league home run and upped his batting average to .345 in 29 games. Hill went eight innings and allowed one run and five hits to win his fourth game since being brought up from Iowa in late July.
