Peoria Roster Change

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced their second roster move of the 2007 season. RHP Charles Platt has joined the Chiefs and Al Alburquerque has been placed on the 7-day DL.

Platt made 10 appearances and one start in the Arizona Rookie League with Mesa last season going 1-0 with a save and a 1.65 ERA. In 16 1/3 innings he struck out 11 and walked just four. Platt, a 24 year old right-hander, was drafted in the 23rd round last June out of Lamar University. The Santa Fe, Texas native also attended Alvin (TX) Junior College and Texas Tech after graduating from Santa Fe High School in 2001.

Alburquerque (1-2, 6.00) heads to the DL with right bicep fatigue. He took the loss on Saturday allowing four earned runs on eight hits over four innings as the Chiefs fell to the Cougars 13-3. Because of the scheduled off day on Wednesday, the DL stint will push Alburquerque back just one day and he is scheduled to start next Sunday at home against the West Michigan Whitecaps.

The Chiefs return home after the 2:00 pm Sunday game at Kane County for a season long 10-game homestand. The first two will pit the Chiefs against the Cougars Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 pm. All tickets are half-price Monday night and the first 1500 fans receive a 2007 Peoria Chiefs Calendar.
