Tired of the talk that he is tired, that is.
Cubs manager Lou Piniella had planned on giving Theriot the night off on Wednesday but changed his mind when Houston pulled a switch and went from a left-handed starter to a right-hander.
Theriot, who was 0-for-13 in his previous three games, hit a sacrifice fly and an infield single to drive in two runs in the Cubs' 3-2 victory over Houston. He batted eighth in the lineup.
"I'm not tired. I just need a few balls to drop through," Theriot said. "Physically, I'm fine. Mentally, the game can be taxing as the season goes on. But it's crunch time. You do everything you can to stay in there and help the team."
