Colvin on World Cup Roster

Cubs outfield prospect Tyler Colvin is one of 24 players from minor league baseball that will represent the United States in the 2007 International Baseball Federation World Cup, Nov. 6-18, in Chinese Taipei.

Colvin, 22, batted .299 with 35 doubles, 16 home runs and 81 RBIs in 125 games between Class High A Daytona and Class AA Tennessee this past season.

The Cubs selected the outfielder with their first-round pick (13th overall) from Clemson University in 2006.

Colvin agreed to participate for Team USA in late August.

"I think it's going to be a very good experience for me," Colvin told back in August. "It's just a good experience for me to go out there and get more experience and playing time in the off-season."

The USA team will be managed by Davey Johnson.
