Eric Patterson Recalled

METAIRIE, La. – The Chicago Cubs recalled INF/OF Eric Patterson from Class AAA Iowa Wednesday. To coincide with the move, Chicago placed OF Alfonso Soriano on the 15-day disabled list.

In 11 games with Iowa, Patterson was 8-for-36 with three doubles and one home run. He made eight starts at second base and one in center field.

Gary Hughes, a Cubs Special Assistant to the General Manager, said Wednesday that the club favored Patterson because manager Lou Piniella wanted the presence of a left-handed bat.
