With the Southern League All-Star Game less than a month away, Jake Fox has returned to All-Star form. Fox, who was a midseason Southern League All-Star in 2007, led the league in hitting (.550), RBI (13) and slugging percentage (1.200) in a week that ended a 5-for-42 (.119) slump.
The 25-year-old Fox began the season's second half with a bang on June 18, smacking a pair of RBI doubles and a two-run homer in a 13-0 victory against Mobile. Fox collected three more RBI the next night before producing a run-scoring double and a solo homer in a 4-3 triumph on Thursday.
The native of Ann Arbor, MI added three hits, including a three-run homer, in an 8-1 victory on Saturday and completed the six-game series against the BayBears with a single that extended his hitting streak to seven games.
Fox, who began the season in Triple A, raised his average with the Smokies 46 points to .260 with his performance during the week.
