Papelbon has been throwing up a lot of those zeros lately. After his August 17 start, Papelbon has now thrown 32 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.
Papelbon made 34 appearances out of Daytona's bullpen this season before recently being moved into a starting role. When asked which was better, Papelbon said he does not have a preference. "As long as our team's winning it doesn't matter."
This is the second time a Daytona pitcher has received pitcher of the week honors. The other Cubs pitcher to do it was Marco Carrillo, who was honored for the June 30 through July 6 week.
