Cubs Sending 43 To 'Instructs'

Forty-three Chicago Cubs prospects will be gathering in the Phoenix, Arizona, area for the organization's annual Instructional League camp, which is scheduled to begin later this month.

Many of the brightest young prospects in the Chicago Cubs' chain will be in Arizona starting in late September for a month-long Instructional League camp which will include roughly three weeks of head-to-head games with prospects from the Angels, Athletics, Brewers, Giants and White Sox chains.

The Cubs will begin their Instructional League game schedule on Monday, September 22nd and they will conclude that schedule on Saturday, October 11. The Instructional League is designed as a time for prospects to get close attention from coaches throughout the system. Many of the prospects involved in "Instructs" are in their first or second years of professional baseball.
