Marquis is scheduled to make $9,875,000 in 2009. The Cubs are believed to be picking up $1 million of Marquis' 2009 salary, according to multiple media reports.
Vizcaino is scheduled to make $3.5 million with a 2010 $4 million club option.
The move is the latest in a busy month for the Cubs, perceived to be looking to dump payroll after reportedly reaching a 3-year, $30 million deal with free agent outfielder Milton Bradley – a switch-hitter that provides the left-handed bat that Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry has been looking for since before the Winter Meetings.
Chicago recently traded second baseman Mark DeRosa to Cleveland for three pitching prospects and also finalized a deal for second baseman Aaron Miles, also a switch-hitter, worth $4.9 million over two years. DeRosa is scheduled to make $5.5 million in 2009.
Marquis, 30, was 11-9 with a 4.53 ERA in 2008 while making 28 starts. He has posted double-digit victories in each of the past five seasons.
Vizcaino, 34, made 43 appearances with Colorado in 2008, finishing 1-2 with a 5.28 ERA in 46 innings.
