Cubs Prospects on the Move

The Chicago Cubs made a flurry of promotions throughout the farm system Sunday, moving several of its top minor league performers for 2010. Outfielder Brett Jackson was promoted to Double-A Tennessee along with right-hander Rafael Dolis. Right-hander Trey McNutt was promoted to Class High-A Daytona, and outfielder Ty Wright was promoted to Triple-A Iowa.

Jackson, the Cubs' 2009 first-round pick, batted .316 with six home runs, 19 doubles and 38 RBI in 67 games for Class High-A Daytona. He was 3-for-3 with three doubles in Saturday's 8-6 win over Dunedin. He left Daytona with an eight-game hitting streak and tied for the fifth highest batting average in the Florida State League.

The 21-year-old Jackson was second in the league in on-base percentage (.420), slugging percentage (.517) and triples (eight). He led the league in walks (43), total bases (136), runs scored (56) and extra-base hits (33).

Dolis, 22, made 13 starts for Daytona and was 4-5 with a 2.92 ERA in 14 appearances overall, spanning 71 innings. He struck out 48 batters and walked 30 and was 1-2 with a 4.29 ERA in four starts in June. Dolis placed fifth in the league in ERA.

McNutt, a 32nd-round pick in 2009, was promoted to Daytona after going 6-0 with a 1.51 ERA in 13 starts. He led the Midwest League in ERA and held opposing hitters to a .202 average against (fifth in the league). The right-hander struck out 70 batters in 59 2/3 innings and walked 24, the fourth highest strikeouts per nine inning ratio in the league.

The 20-year-old McNutt started the Midwest League All-Star Game and left Peoria with 10 consecutive shutout innings over his last two starts, in which he struck out 17 batters, walked two and allowed just four hits.

Wright, the Cubs' seventh-round pick in 2007, batted .298 with 10 home runs, 21 doubles and 51 RBI in 73 games at Tennessee to earn a promotion to Iowa. He leads the Cubs' farm system in RBI and until recently led the system in home runs.

The 25-year-old Wright placed fourth in the Southern League in doubles, extra-base hits (31), and fifth in runs scored (50).
