Mark Reynolds: 2-for-3, 2 RBI in ML Debut

More roster moves abound for the Arizona Diamondbacks, as Chad Tracy hit the DL with a strained ribcage. But Mark Reynolds, who has been hot with the BayBears in Double-A, made the most of his initial opportunity with the big league club, reaching base thrice and driving in two runs Wednesday night.

With Alberto Callaspo unlikely to rejoin the Diamondbacks and Chad Tracy, Brian Barden, and Augie Ojeda injured, Arizona finds itself suddenly short on infield depth. The versatile Mark Reynolds finds himself with the big league club, slated as the everyday third baseman for the time being.

The club also claimed Jason Smith off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. As a Rule V draft pick this winter, Smith must be kept on the 25-man roster or placed on waivers and offered back to the Chicago Cubs.

In related moves, Jeff DaVanon was transferred to the 60-day disabled list, and Casey Daigle was designated for assignment.
