Diamondbacks Announce 2008 Schedule

The Arizona Diamondbacks have released their complete 2008 regular season schedule and will begin their defense of the 2007 National League West Division Championship when the team faces the Cincinnati Reds on March 31 at Great American Ball Park.

The D-backs' season-opening road trip also includes two additional games against the Reds (April 2-3) followed by a three-game weekend series against the Colorado Rockies in Denver, the team's first trip back to Coors Field since losing to the Rockies in the National League Championship Series.

They will then kick off their 81-game home schedule against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 7-9, followed by a weekend series against the National League Champion Rockies April 11-13. Beginning with the weekend series against the Rockies, all Saturday home games in 2008 will start at 5:10 p.m. and all Sunday contests will begin at 1:10 p.m. All weekday evening games will continue to start at 6:40 p.m. and seven mid-week day games will begin at 12:40 p.m.

The D-Backs will face teams from all three American League divisions during Interleague play next season. The Detroit Tigers (May 16-18), Kansas City Royals (June 13-15) and Oakland Athletics (June 17-19) will visit Chase Field in 2008 while Arizona travels on the road to face the Minnesota Twins (June 20-22) and Boston Red Sox (June 23-25).   This could potentially be a very difficult Interleague schedule, pending offseason player movement.

The Diamondbacks only have three road trips scheduled over seven games long, but they each come in the middle of the summer.  Between June 2nd and August 3rd, they will play 35 of their 54 games away from Chase Field.  Team depth will prove very important during this stretch of games that could go a long way towards determining the fate of the 2008 Arizona Diamondbacks.

But we get ahead of ourselves.  Here is the full 2008 schedule for your defending NL West Champion Arizona Diamondbacks:
