South Bend Silver Hawks 11-12 (4th); 4-3 This Week
For the second time in the first three weeks of the season, a Mobile BayBear has been named Southern League Hitter of the Week. After Ricardo Sosa's opening week heroics, Cyle Hankerd earns this week's distinction.
Hankerd blazed through the previous week, recording 15 hits in 22 at-bats for an eye-popping .682 batting average. The 24-year old outfielder tripled his RBI total from five to 15 while ripping three home runs during a two-game stretch in Jacksonville.
He passed teammate Gerardo Parra for the league lead in batting average at .377
and also leads with a 1.068 OPS.
The BayBears already laid claim to the hottest pitching prospect in the organization - if not all of baseball - in Bryan Augenstein. He is now joined in Mobile by top prospect Jarrod Parker, who struggled in his first outing against Double-A hitters. Jarrod's older brother, Justin, is also climbing the charts with a 10-game hit streak and solid defensive play.
Remember, these rankings chronicle the hottest organizational prospects who are making the most of their opportunity ,weighing recent performance most heavily, not the best prospects overall.
