Diamondbacks Readjust Upper-Level Pitching

In a series of merit-based transactions designed to reward the players in the system who are performing well, the Arizona Diamondbacks promoted pitchers Bryan Woodall, Leyson Septimo, and Josh Collmenter. They also reassigned Bryan Augenstein from Triple-A Reno to Double-A Mobile.

Southern League All-Stars Leyson Septimo and Josh Collmenter have been promoted to Triple-A Reno.

Septimo led the Mobile BayBears with 26 appearances at the time of his promotion and posted a 4.13 ERA with 4 saves. He recorded 37 strikeouts in 28.1 innings and is a member of the D-backs' 40-man roster.

Collmenter was the winning pitcher for the North Division in the Southern League All-Star Game on Monday. He went 6-2 with a 1.59 ERA as a BayBear this year, making nine starts. He tossed two complete games with one shutout and allowed just 44 hits in 62.1 innings.  This will be his second stint on the Aces; he went 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA in four starts with Reno earlier in the season.

Additionally, right-handed pitchers Bryan Augenstein and Bryan Woodall have been added to the BayBears' roster.

Augenstein made three starts for the Diamondbacks in 2009 and was a perfect 5-0 with a 0.99 ERA during his time with the BayBears. He has spent all of this season at Triple-A Reno where he was 5-7 with a 6.68 ERA in 18 starts.

Woodall began his year at H-A Visalia with 22.2 consecutive scoreless innings. He earned a 2.15 ERA with nine saves out of the Rawhide bullpen and was the winning pitcher in the California vs. Carolina League All-Star Game. Of the nine earned runs he allowed this season, eight came in back-to back appearances this month.  A native of Phenix City, Alabama, Woodall attended Auburn University and was drafted by Arizona in 2008.
