How Mattingly leaves League in the game in that situation in a close ballgame when he isn't throwing strikes is a joke. I don't know what the coach is trying to accomplish. League has blown 3 saves in 6 tries the last 2 wks. We have better options. I don't care what this guy is being paid. Mattingly tossed this game in the toilet for nothing.
It pissed me off too when Donnie B let Clayton go up there and swing with the F'n bases loaded and 1 out. Even Vin Scully said he asked Lasorda a couple times about letting the pitcher swing in that situation. And Lasorda told Scully there were alot of times he told his pitcher ...DONT SWING THE BAT!!!! Clayton was 1 for 16 in his career with the bases juiced...now his 1 for 17!!! Way to go Donnie Boy!!!!!!!! And on top of it....Kershaw was facing a lefty!!!!!
That is good piece. As much as I like Ethier, fighting with your boss is not bound to produce positive results; personally or in the clubhouse. As much as I have supported Mattingly in the past, there is no excuses for some of the decisions he is making.
Good article. Ethier has to go first since is underperforming for no reasons. Then fire Mattingly and put someone in temp. to send message to team that underperforming players or managers are not tolerated. Honeycutt has never been a great coach so if he goes that is fine. Owners need to set stage by letting these guys go and then put Colletti on notice, that he may be next.
