COMMENTARY | The Arizona Diamondbacks were slapped in the face by the Los Angeles Dodgers when the men in blue and white decided to jump into Chase Field's signature pool after clinching the National League West.
Retaliation is needed for an act that the Dodgers had to realize would ruffle some feathers. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson is old-school and would probably like to throw a couple of haymakers, but I'm here to propose a different kind of payback.
This feud runs deeper than just a disrespectful celebration. The Arizona Diamondbacks didn't like the Los Angeles Dodgers much before the pool incident. Heck, the city of Phoenix doesn't care for the city of Los Angeles. The Phoenix Suns hate the Los Angeles Lakers, theArizona Cardinals hate the -- never mind that one.
The most satisfying retaliation in the short term (and the one most recognized by the older generation) would be a bit of sweet chin music to one of the Dodgers' stars. Perhaps Yasiel Puig and his grandstanding would enjoy a 95-mph heater off of his knuckles. That's still not the long-term solution.
