A poster recently requested that we come up with a thread where we can consolidate all complaints about the 2014 Dodgers. Let's please refrain from inundating the game threads with non-game related complaints, whether they are merited or not.
Whether you're unhappy with this ownership group, the way this team has been performing or being managed, etc. Have at it!
I know it won't happen but I am open to trading all three, Kemp, Ethier and Crawford and have an outfield of Puig, Joc and SVS!! Kemp has become a BAD distraction and complainer and our overall outfield play has been poor. Give the young guys a chance!!
I think the fact that our bullpen has so many guys that can't be sent to the minors, that really makes it impossible to bring up young guys so we are stuck. Time to dump Maholm and bring up someone like Paco.
The great problem to have with multiple outfielders is the down fall of this team I believe. Yes I get Hanley is underwhelming right now, but the circus that is the 5 man outfield has been a huge negative rather than a positive.
2012 TGWITG Champion! 2013 Banned from own site! 2014 ???
Great idea for a thread...although I don't think it will help much. You've just added another thread where the whining will be including every other one.
With that...I have pretty much lost my patience with Mattingly. I was one of his biggest supporters when he became manager and really hoped he would do well. I also have lost it with Kemp. I was never one of his biggest fans (more of an Ethier guy), but I always rooted for him because he was a Dodger. I think it's time to get as much as we can (whatever the heck that would even be) at the deadline. We would obviously have to eat a lot of his contract, but so be it. He really does need to go. But I'm not going to delude myself into thinking just bringing up Joc and letting SVS play everyday will fix our problems. That's unfair pressure to put on those 2.
This team needs a serious wakeup call, maybe fire Donny and our hitting coach Big Mac!!! Then bring up some young blood to infuse some energy in the lineup kind of like what Puig did when they called him up, Dodgers were floundering badly at the time and sparked this team to its winning ways, hopefully Joc and Guererro can do the same!!
The 2014 Dodgers? I don't see 'em, so my life is better. That time used to watch marathon games is now spent in more personally productive ways... Oh, sorry, this is supposed to be for complaints.
If just looking at stats, the last 10 losses (in 20 games,) the Dodger offense is averaging less than 2 runs a game. 8 of the losses were recorded by starters, and one relief loss was in extra innings. The pen would need to solidify at some point in the season, but more consistent run production would probably be the surest way to more wins.
Trade: Ethier, Crawford ..spend the cash (get a defense first SS out of this somehow...Elvis Andrus would be amazing in my opinion but probably not even close to doable--throw in zach lee, and a couple other pieces?) >Call up Joc
Dump: Perez, Maholm. >Call Up: Yimi, Paco (or only 1 and carry an extra bat)
Move: Hanley to 3b. >When healthy, carry a bench of A. Guerrero (2b/3b), J. Uribe (3b/1b), J. Turner (2b/ss), C. Figgins (3b/of), SVS (of), Rojas (def. sub)
Too many gotchas managing baseball. Much easier in private sector, I am not sure I would ever take one working within public sector and wouldn't even dream of something like sports. Private burned me out, public would remove the kindling, and sports would remove the whole fire pit.

He slumped for 2 weeks.
Since then 13 games .432/.509/.750 8 extra base hits and 12 RBI.
Will you remember this if he has a 1 for 15 stretch in July
Sounds like you fit the description, picking out the 13 games you want to count. That is why it is the season average that counts; and right now his projects out to a .276 average with about 15 home runs and 60 RBI. If he goes 1 for 15 in July, it will actually be more reflective of his overall season so far, rather than the 13 games you selectively want to use to put him in the hall of fame. The guy is always one at bat away from taking 15-30 days off, and is immensely overpaid, and any fair minded analyst would tell you that. He has a horrible contract and can only be traded if the Dodgers eat a large portion of it. That should tell you something.
By the way, mlbtraderumors.com is reporting that several owners have been told by the Dodgers that every one of their outfielders not named "Puig" are available for a trade.
Matt Kemp's last two seasons have been riddled with injuries. During the post game broadcast Hershiser et co indicated the consensus around Dodger brass was that Kemp was healthy and needed to play to get back into game shape form. If he remains healthy and IF his health, not his talent, there is a greater chance of him outperforming the projections you reference than underperforming.
