Sizzling Jerry Sands slugged his fourth home run in as many games and drove in a season-high five runs to boost the division-leading Albuquerque Isotopes (4-2) to an 18-3 mauling of the Iowa Cubs. Matt Magill carried a no-hitter into the fifth and allowed just one base hit over six shutout innings, earning his first win in a Quakes' uniform as Rancho Cucamonga topped Lake Elsinore 5-2. Blake Smith finished 2-for-4 and launched his first homer of the year, a two-run blast that gave the Quakes a 4-0 lead. Steven Ames fanned two in a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of the year. The Quakes (3-3) start Allen Webster (0-1) against Jose De Paula tonight.
