-Scott Van Slyke has gotten off to a nice start in 2012, homering in back to back games. His solo shot in the 7th put the Topes on the board, back to back doubles from Trent Oeltjen and Josh Fields allowed Albuquerque to pull even and Tim Federowicz blasted a two run shot that put the team ahead for good. Fields ended up with a pair of doubles, Luis Cruz added one in a 3 for 4 showing, while Alex Castellanos added a pair of singles.

-Ethan Martin, who ended last season as a reliever, struck out the side in his first inning of work in 2012. He ran into trouble in the fourth, walking the bases loaded, but getting a flyout to end the inning. Unfortunately, he couldn't get out of the fifth, after issuing a two out walk, and Blake Johnson relieved him. Johnson would yield a solo home run the next inning, which would prove to be the game-winner. Martin threw just 48 of his 90 pitches for strikes. Rafael Ynoa added another pair of hits as well as his second stolen base in as many games.

-2011 first rounder Chris Reed showed good control but simply allowed two many hits early as the Quakes fell behind in the first and couldn't make a dent in the score. Reed did manage to strike out 6 while not issuing a single walk, as well as recording 8 outs on the ground and none in the air. Tony Delmonico and Chris O'Brien were the only starters to not reach safely.

-The Loons pulled together a pair of runs in the 7th to tie but Jose Dominguez allowed the eventual winning run to score in the 8th after a leadoff walk. Delvis Morales couldn't field a 1 out grounder cleanly, allowing the go-ahead run to reach third and he was brought in by a single in the following at bat. Pratt Maynard added a pair of singles and a walk, while Joe Winker singled twice as well. James Baldwin left the game in the 4th inning with a hand injury.
