Dodger Game Notes - 4/25/12

Dodgers lose 4-2. Guerra blows another to spoil Lilly's strong start.

Final Score: Braves 4, Dodgers 2

-It may be time for Javy Guerra to hand the closer reigns to Kenley Jansen. Jansen dominates with 1 pitch, while Guerra leaves his fastball over the plate and isn't mixing pitches. Luckily Josh Lindblom came in to clean up Guerra's mess, even after drilling Pasternicky.

-Matt Kemp hit his 10th homer of the month, tying the club record for most homers in April and he still has 4 games to play. Ethier also doubled but struck out 3 times. Gordon stole his 10th, Gwynn stole his first.

-Jerry Hairston and Gordon made a pair of excellent plays. Gordon speared a line drive off the bat of Martin Prado while Hairston made a nice play on a bad hop at third. Jerry's doing his best Jamey Carroll impression, which would be fantastic if he keeps it up.

-Ted Lilly's strong start was wasted, though the decision is secondary to the point. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits in 7 innings. He also didn't allow a home run, extending his not-allowing-a-homer streak to 9 games. He leads the league in ERA with a 0.90 mark. Apparently someone convinced him that the season started in August.

-One final note: Nathan Eovaldi is headed to the big leagues, though no one is sure who he's replacing just yet. Since everyone in the rotation seems to be healthy, Eovaldi is likely going to assuming a relief role for the time being. Hopefully he eventually gets the chance to start.

-Up next, an off day followed by a hell of a pitching matchup. Clayton Kershaw takes on Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals, who are 14-4. Game time is 7:10pm Pacific.
