The young staff logged an aggregate ERA of 3.17, good for 11th in the 35-team league. They are throwing the ball past their opponents with regularity as their strikeout total of 288 is third-most.
On the other hand, the offense is exceptionally weak. As such, the team's overall record is a bit surprising. The Cardinals are last in runs scored, with their .219 batting average and team OPS of .608 third from the bottom of the 35 DSL clubs.
In addition to their two All-Stars, catcher Luis Cruz and pitcher Luis Perdomo, the Cardinals have a number of individual standouts. In the following interview, Cardinals director of international operations Moises Rodriguez outlines some of them.
First, we start with some of the DSL Cardinals mound standouts, discuss what scouts look for in teenage pitchers and end with the "Dominican Jason Motte."
In the second clip, we move to the team's hitting leaders, get an update on Robelys Reyes' visa and conclude with a couple of names who may be promoted to the Gulf Coast League before the end of the summer.
