Chattanooga Sweeps Series with Blowout Win

Chattanooga completes sweep against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos with a dominating 11-1 win.

"It's exciting, especially to end it like this," Manager Jody Reed said. "We've been waiting for the offense to click. We've been doing some things early, and it paid off tonight in a big way."

Nothing that Pensacola did came close to being able to stop the Lookouts offense. Chattanooga scored at least one run in the first four innings.

"We've really been trying to address some corrective things," Reed said. "How we want to approach the at bat, how we want to get to the ball, we worked on it earlier today and the execution was fantastic during the game."

It didn't take long for the Lookouts to get on the board when Yasiel Puig hit a three run homer over the center field wall with Rafael Ynoa and Joc Pederson on base.

Gorman Erickson followed Puig's homerun in the second inning with a homer of his own in the second.

Chattanooga really took advantage of the Blue Wahoos in the third inning scoring two runs but not by hits but by walks. Pensacola's pitcher Tim Crabbe walked both Angelo Songco and Gorman Erickson with bases loaded, giving Chattanooga two runs.

Puig stuck again for the Lookouts in the fourth inning when he hit another homerun over the center field wall yet again, bringing in Miguel Rojas for a two run homer.

The new Lookout Angelo Songco showed his worth yet again tonight when he hit a line drive to center field, which brought in Blake Smith.

The Lookouts last runs of the night came in the seventh inning when Gorman Erickson also hit another homerun bringing in Angelo Songco.

Chattanooga split its time on the mound between three pitchers tonight who together earned seven strikeouts.

Michael Thomas was first on the mound for the Lookouts staying in for four innings, allowing two hits and a walk, but earned the most strikeouts of the night with four.

Joel Lima replaced Thomas in the fifth inning and allowed for Pensacolas only run of the night. Lima stayed in for three innings, striking out one batter and giving up three hits.

Chattanooga's last pitcher was Greg Infante who pitched the last two innings. Infante allowed for no hits, walked one batter, and struck out two.

Chattanooga finished up the sweep against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos with scores of 5-3, 1-0, 3-1, 6-4, and today's end score of 11-1.

Chattanooga will travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on the Mobile BayBears on their home turf. The Lookouts won their last series against the Baybears in Chattanooga 3-2.
