Lookouts Lose as Puig Heads to L.A.

Chattanooga loses its first game of the series against the visiting Mississippi Braves 4-2.

The Lookouts took the lead early with two runs but weren't able to hold onto it when the Braves scored in both the sixth and eighth innings. Chattanooga's lead was taken completely when the Braves knocked in a two run homer in the ninth inning.

"I was disappointed that we couldn't hold the lead in the eighth and ninth inning," Manager Jody Reed said. "I thought Yimi (Garcia) made some mistakes and they took advantage of it."

Chattanooga's two runs for the game came from Jan Vazquez and Rafael Ynoa in the second inning. Ynoa brought in Vazquez with a single grounder to centerfield, and Miguel Rojas who doubled to left field brought in Ynoa.

The Lookouts gave the mound in the first five innings to Steve Smith. Smith struck out four batters, allowed for six hits, but only one earned run.

"I thought he threw the ball pretty well," Reed said. "Obviously he got tired there at the end, but that was expected since he's not built up, but I think he went out there and he battled. He left us in the lead and I was disappointed that we couldn't bring it home for him."

The number one prospect for the Dodgers Yasiel Puig left the Lookouts this morning for Los Angles where he will start tomorrow. Puig will join the team Monday when the Dodgers play the San Diego Padres in Dodgers Stadium.
