Lake Elsinore Storm 6 Bakersfield Blaze 1

Key Statistics: CF Travis Jankowski 1-4, 2B, SB(60), 2RBI; 1B Lee Orr, 3-3, HR(9), 2R, 2RBI; RHP Bryce Morrow 6IP, 6H, 1R, 7K, 0BB

Prospect Watch: Bryce Morrow, who has spent the last three years pitching in the independent Frontier League, made an impressive debut in the system. The righty from Michigan allowed only one run in six innings and struck out seven Blaze hitters without allowing a walk. The 25-year-old will help absorb innings for the club through the second half of the season. … Lee Orr has hit in nine of ten games for the Storm, but Friday's 3-for-3 game which included a homer and two RBIs, was his best performance in the run. He's hitting .294/.333/.544 for the month after missing much of May and June with injuries. … Travis Jankowski stole his 60th base of the season and is second overall in affiliated baseball.

Ft. Wayne TinCaps got rained out. They will make up the game in late August.

Vancouver Candians 4 Eugene Emeralds 3

Key Statistics: RF Hunter Renfroe 1-3, BB; RHP Yimmi Brasoban 5IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 3K, 1BB

Prospect Watch: Felipe Blanco's triple was the Ems' only extra-base hit as the team was once again limited offensively. Blanco, a 19-year-old shortstop from the Dominican Republic, has added a little pop since he debuted in the Arizona League last summer, but continues to struggle to make contact, hitting just .229 with a .301 on-base percentage this year. … Yimmi Brasoban continues to put together a solid first season stateside. The 19-year-old righty gave up two earned runs over five innings and now owns a 3.21 ERA in nine starts. His strikeout totals continue to lag a bit, but as he gets a better understanding of how his ball moves and improves pitch sequencing, his stuff will allow him to keep more hitters from making contact.

AZL Padres 12 AZL Mariners 6

Key Statistics: RF Franmil Reyes 3-5, 2 2B, RBI; 3B, Dustin Peterson 2-5, 2 2B, 2R, 2RBI; SS Josh VanMeter 2-5, BB, 3R; RHP Cam Stewart 5IP, 3H, 1ER, 5K, 0BB

Prospect Watch: The Padres' rookie club erupted for nine runs in the first inning and rolled to a laugher of a victory. Supplemental round pick Dustin Peterson had a pair of opposite-field doubles in the first inning, each one driving in Josh VanMeter, who was in the leadoff spot. Peterson also finished the day with a walk, his first in two weeks. … Franmil Reyes is beginning to translate his power more effectively in games. The big righty had two doubles among his three hits for the game and now sports a .533 slugging percentage in his last ten games. Overall, he's hitting .312/.346/.468 since returning to the AZL at the end of June.
