Dodgers Prospect # 29

Name: Josh Ravin

Draft Year: 2006

Draft Round: 5th

2015 Ending Club: Oklahoma City Dodgers (AAA)

ETA: 2015

Age: 27

Josh had a pretty solid 2015, with a sub H to IP ratio and a good 2:1 K to BB ratio. A brief stint with the Dodgers offered too small of a sample size to get a good glimpse if he could reach his ceiling.

A left hernia currently has him out of commission. I guess we will see what it looks like closer to spring training. If hernia heals properly he could be a key project contributor to the 2016 staff, if not it could be tough for the then 28 year old to solidify a roster spot.

Ravin throws one of the hardest fastballs in the Dodgers' farm system. He can hit high 90's and even 100 at times. Problem is as velocity increases the ball straightens out and the curve ball has proven to be a negative part of arsenal. Drafted by the Reds, he then bounced around to the Brewers before landing with the Dodgers. Ravin has seen a few innings in the Bigs but no significant time. In his 9 major league innings, he allowed 7 runs; not bad but not an overly impressive sample.
