As we all know by now, the Dodgers recently acquired the Tampa Bay second baseman for a good chunk of change. He has basically not been on a winning team or showed any signs of super stardom. However, he could be the perfect piece to the Dodgers infield puzzle. Make no mistake that there is wisdom and baseball IQ involved in a Dodgers front office discussion with guys like Josh Byrnes, Farhan, Friedman and Alex Anthopolus. They spend and make decisions based on a exact prediction calculator that has every rostered player playing a specific role with specific projected production. They don't all have to be Agon or Seager, they just need to play a productive role.
WHAT I LIKE
He has great anticipation defensively. He knows where he is gonna be and what his next move is
defensively goe glove right very well with success.
balanced swing path with consistent exit launch angle
He has good defensive IQ, he is aware and two steps ahead mentally of whats going on around him
He is a physically strong player and knows how to maintain flexibility in spite of his size.
WHAT IM NOT SURE ABOUT
Has struggled with strikeouts.
Isnt a great total base creator
Low OBP for a guy with average power production.
Not much of a runner, cant accumulate extra bases by stealing and gets caught alot.
Gets average reads on pitches, hits bad pitches out because of raw strength.
In future when power is gone it probably wont translate to a productive swing.
