Clayton Kershaw was close to perfect tonight as he gave up 1 run on 4 hits in 8 1/3 innings in a

7-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers bats woke up on Dbacks ace Zack Greinke who

gave up 10 hits and 5 runs over 5 innings. Andrew Toles hit his 3 rd homer of the season as the Dodgers

had 13 hits, as the first 6 hitters had 11 of the hits. In roster news Pedro Baez came off the 10 day

disabled list today throwing 2/3 of an inning. Rich Hill will be back to throw on Sunday.

On this Day in 1910 William Taft becomes the first president to throw out the ceremonial first

pitch. He stays for the game and sees a good one as future hall of famer Walter Johnson one hits the A’s

winning 3-0. In 1931 Jack Quinn becomes the oldest pitcher to start an opening day game; the 47 year

old for the Brooklyn Robins gives up 6 runs in 6 innings to lose to the Braves.
