The Dodgers tonight could not silence the hot bats of the Arizona Diamondbacks as they lose tonight 11-5.
Kenta Maeda gave up 6 runs on 9 hits including homeruns to Jake Lamb, Chris Herrmann and 2 to Yosmany
Thomas to get the loss. The Bull pen gave up 4 runs as well. Robbie Ray got the win for the Diamondbacks. The
Dodgers offense rolled up 5 runs on 11 hits including a homerun to Kike` Hernandez. Justin Turner, Chris Taylor,
and Austin Barnes had 2 hits apiece.
Today in baseball history for the Dodgers in 1947 was the infamous game with the Phillies that led to the
team to rally around new teammate rookie Jackie Robinson (the first to break the color barrier) as Philly players
led by racist manager Ben Chapman were repeatedly hurling racial epitaphs, throwing bean balls and intentionally
spiking Robinson as portrayed in the movie 42. This led to the Phillies shortstop to apologize and Baseball
commissioner Happy Chandler to chastise Chapman. Robinson would show class and courage in facing this kind of
treatment which led to the signing of many more players of color from the Negro leagues.
