Brandon McCarthy stopped the Dodgers slide today by beating the Diamondbacks 6-2. McCarthy threw a
gem giving up 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings. Shelby Miller who gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 4 innings got the loss for
the Diamondbacks. For the Dodgers Yasmani Grandal homered, Cory Seager and Adrian Gonzalez each had two
hits. For the Diamondbacks Paul Goldschmidt would homer and collect the only RBI’s they would get. David
Peralta would collect 2 hits and Jake Lamb had 3 in a losing effort.
In Baseball history today the New York Highlanders previously the Baltimore Orioles would later change
their name to the Yankees played their first game in 1903. Spit baller Harry Howell goes the distance beating
Washington 7-2. In 1921 Warren Spahn is born in Buffalo, New York. The hall of famer would be a mainstay for the
Braves, winning 363 games the most of any Lefthander.
