Kenta Maeda Gives Strong Start

On Cinco de Mayo Kenta Maeda took the mound against the Padres. The Dodgers starter threw

5 strong innings but it was Sergio Romo in relief who got the win. Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger

stayed hot at the plate. Bellinger was playing first base tonight due to the earlier roster move putting

Adrian Gonzales on the disabled list for a herniated disk and a sore elbow. This is A-Gon’s first trip to the

DL in his 14 year career. He leaves the Dodgers with a .255 batting average with no home runs. At this

time it is unknown how long Gonzales will be out. Cody Bellinger will be playing 1 st base (his natural

position) while he’s out.

When healthy Adriane Gonzalez a 5 time All Star is one of baseball’s best 1 st baseman; His

lifetime stats are impressive as he is a .289 hitter with 308 homeruns and 1157 RBI’s. Defensively he has

a .995 fielding average, which is very good considering he has had almost 16,000 chances (which is put

outs + assists + errors) and only 74 errors. But with Bellinger being red hot now is a great time to let A-

Gon rest and get over these nagging injuries to be strong for the rest of the season.
