Christopher Armand Taylor…graduated from Cox (VA) High School in 2009, when he was named the Virginia Class AAA State Player of the Year…played college ball at the University of Virginia (2010-2012)…selected by the Seattle Mariners in the fifth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
The Dodgers lost their second straight game to the Giants and third overall tonight 2-1. Luis
Avilan took the loss in relief of Rich Hill who had just come off the disabled list. Hill has been having
blister issues on his finger; maybe he should try the old school therapy of soaking fingers in pickle juice.
Hey it worked for Nolan Ryan. Even though the Dodgers let the Diamondback jump them into second
place the hot hand has been 2 nd baseman Chris Taylor. He is hitting .338 with a slugging percentage of
.440 and an on base percentage plus slugging percentage 1.004. These are outstanding numbers.
According to statcast his exit velocity off the bat is 93 mph which is higher than the league
average of 88. This tells us he is hitting the ball hard. His launch angle is 8.24 which is very close to line
drive territory, but is in the ground ball range. So far this year he has 8 extra base hits, the most he’s
ever had in a year professionally. He’s almost topped his total bases record as well. Although he didn’t
get to play that much in years past, he is definitely proving he should be a full time player now.
