The Dodgers spotted the Marlins 10 runs today and still almost came back to win. This was
another instance of the Dodger offence not coming alive till the 5 th inning. But they came up empty
losing 10-6. Julio Urias didn’t last long as he gave up 7 runs in 2 1/3 innings. The Offense consisted of
Homeruns from Seager, Bellinger and Hernandez. Seager has been hot of late raising his batting average
up today to .299 with 7 homeruns. He is part of a young hitting core that will eventually be a dominant
force in the national league west.
Looking at Corey’s slugging percentage of .484 and ops (on base + slugging percentage) is .819.
That is an incredible number for a kid in his second year in the big leagues. As of now he is hitting line
drives at a 25% clip and ground balls at 40%. His launch angle is at 13% with an average height of 38
feet, with an exit velocity of 91 mph. What this is telling us he is seeing the ball well and hitting hard line
drives. He tends to hit the ball from center to right field more often but does hit it to the opposite field
28.4 % of the time. This is a big reason why he is hitting with authority at a .300 clip.
