Ebels sweep series

Dino Ebel's team swept the two-game intrasquad series by topping Terry Kennedy's 4-2 on March 2, helped along by a two-run homer from Rick Bell that broke a scoreless tie in the third.

James Loney lived on an error before Bell's shot over the left field fence. Shane Victorino walked, Cesar Isturis lobbed a single to left set up a two-run shot up the middle by Bubba Trammel that nearly decapitated the pitcher.

Kennedy's minions rallied for a run in the fourth when Joe Thurston slammed a triple to left center and scored on an infield error. Singles by Victorino gathered in a fly to center and his strong throw kept Olmedo Franklin Saenz at third. Then Franklin Gutierrez gloved a fly to left and easily nailed Saenz at the plate trying to score from third to end the threat.

Edwin Jackson looked strong during his two innings of work for Kennedy's team. Wilson Alvarez worked two scoreless innings for the Ebel team.

Shortstop Cesar Izturic sparkled in the field.

Thurston was the only player with multiple hits, adding a single to his triple.
