Sign Two From Tryout Camp

The Dodgers signed two from the 107 players who worked out at the March 1 open tryouts -- although Jose Canseco was not one of them. Catcher Gooby Gerlits and infielder Adam Shorts were both signed to minor league contracts.

Gerlits, 21, was selected in the 29th round of the 2001 First-Year Player Draft by the Florida Marlins out of Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and played one year with the Gulf Coast League Marlins.

Shorts, 23, spent last season at Single-A Staten Island in the New York Yankees' organization after playing college baseball at George Mason University.
