Position players arrive at Dodgertown

Infielders and outfielders joined the pitchers and catchers who were already on hand for the first full-scale drills of Dodger minor leaguers at Dodgertown Saturday, March 13.

In all over 150 players are participating in drills as they try to make the rosters of Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Vero Beach and Columbus, Ga., the organization's full-season affiliates , all of which opening their regular seasons on April 9.

Among the players here are two young Japanese , infielder Yojiro Kakei and outfielder Tomotaka Sakaguchi. Both are under contract in their homeland but will train with the Dodgers just as third baseman Norihiro Nakamura did with the parent team. Kakei and Sakaguchi will remain until April 5; Nakamura has since returned to Japan.

Minor league exhibition games, which are free to the public, begin March 19.
