Orioles stop L.A. 3-1

The Dodgers were pounded 14-5 by Baltimore he last time they came to Fort Lauderdale, but this time the L.A. staff held them to seven hits and three runs. However, the Orioles smothered the Dodger offense, limiting them to a solo home run by David Ross in the second inning.

No Dodger hitter got more than one hit, and all five of the hits -- excluding the sixth, Ross' homer -- were singles.

Jose Lima again spun his magic, allowing four hits and a single run over four innings. He left with the game tied 1-1.

Brian Falkenborg worked a scoreless inning before Masao Kida (0-1) gave up the winning run on a single by Jay Gibbons, one of the players mentioned in trade talks between the two teams.

Rick White allowed the third run of the game in the seventh and Duaner Sanchez added another zero to his credit with a hitless eighth.

With the loss, Los Angeles dropped to 6-11.
