Marlins maul Dodgers 11-1

Florida jumped all over starter Jeff Weaver, tagging him for a run in the first, two in the second and four in the third to take an early 7-1 lead. They coasted in with a 11-1 blowout win, collecting 17 hits. They were not retired in order in any inning.

Weaver was victimized in the second inning when three different Dodgers made errors that cost him two unearned runs. But a triple, two doubles and two singles scored four in the third.

Los Angeles scored in the third when Joe Thurston led off with a double, was bunted to third by Weaver and scored on a ground ball off he bat of Wilkin Ruan.

Darren Dreifort, Rick White, Doug Nickle and Agustin Montero each held the Marlins scoreless but a three-run homer in the last of the eighth off Duaner Sanchez put the cap on the scoring.

The only bright spot for he Dodgers was Joe Thurston who singled twice and doubled in four trips, boosting his average from .250 to .302. Thurston collected half of the team's six hits.

The loss dropped the Dodgers to 10-13 during the spring with their first day off scheduled for March 2
