Dodger Farm Report August 16th

Masao Kida has had more medical problems than a guest star on "E.R." Those, he maintains , may delay his return to the bog leagues but ultimately will not deny. Maybe, but he certainly was convincing Sunday.

Kida, who overcame arm problems and a severe car accident before to make it up , was put down for the early part of this season with back problems. That he's overcome that was evident as he pitched Las Vegas past Sacramento 6-3. The 35-year-old Japanese right-hander, who now has a 2-1 record, went seven strong innings, scattering seven hits , holding the River Cats to a single run over that span as he struck out six while walking only one.

Jason Repko blasted his seventh home run , a three-run shot , to break the game open . Antonio Perez contributed a double and two singles and Luis Garcia , a double and single. Troy Brohawn picked up the final two outs for his fifth save. The 51's trail by 13 games in the PCL South.

Elsewhere , there was a light schedule.

The Suns are 12 1/2 back in the Southern League East.
