Dodger Farm Report August 27th

It was a great story- or , at least, part of one, anyway. After playing for Greece in the Olympics, Nick Theodoreau took a plane from Athens to Las Vegas, arrived in time to come into the game as a pinch-hitter and single home the winniong run as the 51's edged Fresno 4-3 Thursday .

It would have been even better if Nick had just helped Greece win the gold but , of course, they didn't come close to that. Or if the base knock propelled Vegas into the middle of a tight pennant race but they're 15 games back in the PCL South. Still, it was a nice bit opf drama on a night where Hideo Nomo received generally good reviews on his latest rehab stint.

Nomo threw 85 pitches, many in the low 90's, over 5.1 innings in which he was touched up for five hits and three runs, walking two, striking out 10. Although he was reached for an early home run and triple, he did declare that he felt stronger as the game went along.

Joe Thurston continied his plate surge with two hits , Jose Flores also was good for two and Antonio Perez became the first player in franchise history with a 20 home run, 20 steal season when he sent one out. Tom Farmer (7-5) worked the final frame for the win.
