Dodger Farm Report September 3rd

NOTE - Since these reports originate in a locale directly in the path of Hurricane Frances, this will be the last one until further notice.<br> <br> Going into the series with Idaho Falls, Ogden had an excellent chance of making it to the Pioneer League playoffs for the fourth straight season, two of those as a Dodger farm.

But Thursday, for the third evening in a row, the Chukars subjected Raptor pitching to cruel and unusual punishment, winning this one 11-7 , thus assuring themselves of meeting Provo for the South Division title.

Oh, once again, the Raptors hit the ball sharply, particularly Cory Dunlap and B. J. Richmond, both with three base knocks. Hwoever, Javier Garcia (2-3) couldn't get anybody out in the second inning and wound up being pounded for six runs. Five more counted against David Parker and the Raptors' fate was sealed as they are five back of the winners with just four to play.

Elsewhere on a relatively light evening:

JACKSONVILLE 8, Greenville 7. The Suns came up with four in the top of the ninth to pull it out for Augustin Montero (2-0). Willie Aybar tied the game with his second hit, a two-run single, then came in on Daylon Holt's single. Shane Victorino hit his 16th home run. T. J. Nall was banged around for seven runs in five innings before the just-promoted Marcos Carvajal came in for three scoreless . The Suns are 16 1/2 back in the Southern League East.

Greensboro 6, COLUMBUS 4 Catfish pitchers struck out 10 to set a new franchise record for most whiffs in a season - 1,192 and counting- but it didn't really matter as the Bats hammered Brandon Weeden (7-9) for six runs . Chris Testa then threw three perfect , striking out six of the nine men he faced. Xavier Paul was 3-for-3 and Luis Castillo hit his second home run. The Fish trail by 13 1/2 in the SAL South.

LAS VEGAS at Edmonton was rained out while VERO BEACH had been idled by the storm and is awaiting the Florida State playoffs.

PLAYER MOVES - Lefthander Ryan Ketchner was promoted to Las Vegas from Jacksonville with Carvajal coming up from Columbus to replace him.
