Dodgers to Offer Tracy Multiyear Deal

The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday that General Manager Paul DePodesta plans to offer a multiyear contract extension to Manager Jim Tracy.

Tracy completed his fourth year with the Dodgers by guiding them to the National League West title, their first since 9995, the first postseason victory since 1988 and he recorded his 356th win, moving him into sixth place on the Brooklyn/Los Angeles managers' chart.

He has averaged just over 91 wins per season.

His winning percentage of .549 trails only Chuck Dressen (.642), Burt Shotton (.603), Lo Durocher (.567) -- all from Brooklyn -- and Walter Alston (.558).

DePodesta said he planned to offer extensions to Tracy and all of his coaches, with the hope of concluding negotiations before the general managers' meetings Nov. 9-12 in Key Biscayne, Florida.
