Dodger Prospect Chin-Lung Hu

33rd in a series as we count down among the top Dodger prospects.

Position- Shortstop
Residence- Tainan City, Taiwan
DOB- Feb. 7, 1984
B/T- R-R
04 Club(s) -Columbus (low A); Vero Beach (high A)

First scouted in his native Taiwan, he was signed after an impressive performance in the 2002 World Junior Champiosnhips in which he hit .474 with four home runs in just 38 at-bats. At first glance, he's unpreposing physically but that's misleading. He's very muscular and drives the ball well with a quick stroke. What's more he has a good eye at the plate so has hit well wherever he's been.

He batted .305 in his rookie season at Ogden in 2003; then, last year hit .298 with six home runs at Columbus before a promotion to Vero Beach where he followed with a.307 average before being shut down with a sore arm.

It's in the field where he's most impressive, displaying tremendous agility at short with excellent coordination and a strong arm. He was voted the best fielder at his position in the South Atlantic League. He's an above-average runner, as well. He may start the season in high A again but could get a shot at AA depending upon how the more experienced players above him are placed.
