Myrow, Nakamura Homer in 7-4 Vegas Win

Las Vegas got home runs from Brian Myrow and Nori Nakamura as Eric Stults won a 7-4 decision in relief. Vero Beach bombarded Clearwater 14-3 behind Brian Pilkington and 17 hits. Travis Denker hit a three-run HR in a five-run first inning as the Catfish beat the Greenville 6-3. Ogden dumped Helena 8-4, helped by Jason Mooneyham's two-run home run and the Gulf Coast Dodgers lost 4-1 with Ken Jensen slugged his first home run, Jacksonville was not scheduled.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada-- Las Vegas defeated Tucson 7-4 in the opener of the four-game home stand. The 51s recorded 7 hits and scored four runs in the first inning. First baseman Brian Myrow (2-for-3) hit a two-run home run (13th) in the sixth inning to break the 4-4 tie. Third baseman Norihiro Nakamura (2-for-4) recorded his third straight multiple-hit game. He added a solo home run (16th) in the eighth for the 51s final run. Left-hander Wilson Alvarez pitched a scoreless inning on his fourth Major League rehab start. Left-hander Eric Stults pitched 4.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, 4 runs and struck out 2. Right-hander Alfredo Gonzalez (2-1) earned the victory with 1.2 scoreless innings and right-hander Mike Neu recorded his first save of the season with 2 scoreless innings.

VERO BEACH, Florida-- Vero Beach knocked out 17 hits en route to a 14-3 win over the Clearwater Thursday night. The first four Dodgers to bat all doubled and the fifth, Cole Bruce hit a home run. Meanwhile Brian Pilkington turned in seven terrific innings to earn the win and improve his record to 3-6. The big first inning gave Vero Beach a 4-1 lead. The Dodgers began to pull away in the 3rd. Cory Dunlap led off with a double, his second of the game, while Jamie Hoffman and Anthony Raglani walked to load the bases. Edwin Bellorin's sacrifice foul fly to the second baseman scored Dunlap. Mayke Cabrera then reached on an error and Tony Abreu followed with a triple to score both baserunners, making it 7-1. Bellorin led off the fourth inning with a triple and scored on Cabrera's single. Abreu followed with a base hit and Jimmy Rohan doubled in both runners. In the 7th Cabrera led off with his second hit and the Dodgers scored two more runs thanks to singles from Rohan, Kemp and Bruce. The Dodgers picked up one more in the 8th when Raglani and Bellorin both walked. Raglani scored on a fielder's choice.

GREENVILLE, SC—2B Travis Denker hit a three-run HR in a five-run first inning as the Catfish beat the Greenville Bombers 6-3 in Greenville, SC tonight for their fifth-straight win. RHP Zach Hammes earned his third win of the season with six shutout innings, while RHP Brandon Weeden came out of the bullpen for the first time this season and picked up the save, striking out the side in the ninth. SS Lucas May had a double and a HR, while SS David Nicholson ripped three hits and is 5-for-10 since his return from AA Jacksonville. Nicholson and RF Sergio Pedroza led off with singles before Denker's 18th HR of the season cleared the left-field wall. Denker's HR was his 6th in his last 32 AB. C Chris Westervelt and DH Ryan Russ added RBI in the first inning to make it 5-0. May hit a solo HR in the sixth. In the eighth inning, Greenville struck for three runs and had the tying run at the plate, trailing 6-3 with two outs. Weeden came out of the bullpen and induced a fielders' choice groundout to end the eighth, and struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth for his first save. The Catfish will take on the Bombers tomorrow with RHP Jarod Plummer (0-0, 2.38 ERA) on the hill.

HELENA, Montana-- Ogden picked up a big road win against Helena by a score of 8-4. The Raptors victory split the four game series between the division leading teams. Juan Rivera reached base on an error to lead off the game, stole second base and was driven in by Jesus Soto. The Raptors never trailed. Jason Mooneyham hit a two-run home run (#2) in the 2nd inning two put the Raptors on top 3-0. The Brewers cut the Raptors lead to 5-4 before Jordan Pratt (2-1) came in to retire the last two batters in the 5th and went on to pitched two more innings of one-hit shutout ball. He only allowed one walk while striking out 6. Ogden added to their lead in the 8th, with two outs Jesus Soto hit a single and was driven in by David Sutherland. BJ Richmond drove Sutherland in on a single to make the lead 8-4. The Raptors will travel to Missoula to take on the Osprey in a three game series.

VERO BEACH, Florida--Ken Jensen slugged a home run in the fifth inning and that was the only run the Gulf Coast Dodgers could manage, falling 4-1 to the Marlins. Chales Dasni started but worked only one inning, giving way to Miguel Sanfler who allowed a single run in 4.1 innings, leaving the game tied 1-1. Jon Haldis (0-1) was tagged with an unearned run and took the loss. Josh Bell and Jensen had a pair of hits.
