Ross, Nakamura Homer in Vegas Loss

The Gulf Coast League Dodgers were the only winners across the franchise, stopping the Marlins 9-7. Las Vegas got homers from Nori Nakamura and Cody Ross but lost to Portland 4-2. Jacksonville lost 5-4 to Montgomery but Vero was rained out and Columbus suspended leading 5-0 when a light tower malfunctioned. Ogden had an open date.

PORTLAND, Oregon-- Nori Nakamura (#20) and Cody Ross (#17) hit back to back home runs in the second inning to give Las Vegas a 2-1 lead but the 51s couldn't generate any more offense and lost a 4-2 decision at Portland 4-2. Eric Stults (3-6) gave up homers in the first and fifth innings despite fanning six over six innings. Vegas out-hit the Beavers 7-6 while evening the series at two games each.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama-- Reliever Richard Bartlett gave up consecutive run-scoring singles in the sixth inning, as Montgomery took a 5-4 victory over the Suns. The Suns scored three runs in the first inning with on Jon Weber, James Loney and Justin Ruggiano driving in runs, then were shut out the Suns until the seventh. Starter Justin Orenduff left the game with the score tied 3-3. Bartlett allowed two hits, giving the Biscuits a 5-3 advantage. However, Tony Abreu singled home a run off Peguero in the seventh to pull the Suns within 5-4. o end the seventh. Former Suns right-hander Ruddy Lugo fanned Andy LaRoche with runners at second and third to end the game. Chad Billingsley (11-6, 3.81 ERA) is scheduled to start against Birmingham Barons tonight. JUPITER, Florida-- Due to Tropical Storm Katrina, both Thursday's and Friday's Dodger games at Jupiter have been postponed. One of those games will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday night.

SAVANNAH, Georgia-- A right-field light tower power outage at Savannah's Grayson Stadium caused the suspension of the Columbus-Savannah game with the Fish leading 5-0 in the top of the third inning. The game will continue in the top of the third inning today as part of an afternoon doubleheader.

OGDEN, Utah-- The Raptors had an open date.

VERO BEACH, Florida-- The Dodgers outlasted the Marlins 9-7 in a rain-shortened game by a 9-7 margin. The Coasties rallied from 1-0 and 3-1 deficits to bang out nine hits before the game was called after six innings. Gus Norrito (2-1) earned the win and Tray Robinson smacked his third homer of the season.
