Todd Donovan Knocks in Five as Suns Win

JACKSON, Tennessee-- Todd Donovan tripled twice and had three hits, driving in a career-high five runs, hoisting the Suns to an 8-1 victory over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx in Game 3 of the Southern League Championship Series at Pringles Park.

The Suns have a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-five series and can win their second outright Southern League championship with a win at 3:05 p.m. Saturday at Pringles Park.

Donovan, who was unable to play with a sore knee in Game 2 Wednesday, singled in the first run of the game in the third inning off Diamond Jaxx starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco. Nolasco, the reigning pitcher of the year in the Southern League, earned the loss, allowing four runs over seven innings.

Nolasco allowed a two-run home run to Joel Guzman in the fourth inning, giving the Suns a 3-0 advantage.

Donovan, the center fielder, elected to cut down Buck Coats in a rundown at third base, allowing Brandon Sing to score in the sixth inning, bringing the Diamond Jaxx to within 3-1. Donovan's one-out triple scored Justin Ruggiano in the seventh to bump the Suns' lead back up to three.

Suns starter William Juarez scattered eight hits, allowing one run and walking none over six innings to earn his second post-season victory. Luis Gonzalez and Greg Miller buttoned up the victory with scoreless relief.

Randy Wells relieved Nolasco in the eighth and loaded the bases with one out. He struck out Ruggiano after falling behind 3-0, but allowed a two-strike infield single to Nick Alvarez, which gave the Suns a 5-1 advantage. Donovan followed by rapping a two-strike triple to the right field corner, clearing the bases.

The Suns will send right-hander Justin Orenduff to start the potentially title-winning Game 4. Orenduff has not pitched since Sept. 5. He is scheduled to oppose West Tenn right-hander Carlos Marmol, who won Game 3 of the North Division Finals.
