> Abreu has been sharpening his hitting skills in the three years he's been a pro and truly came of age in that department in 2005 when he led the Florida State League with a .327 average.

He has excellent hand-eye coordination and although he has tendency to be less than judicious at some of the pitches he offers at, he gets the bat through quickly and can still drive some bad balls into the gaps.

His power seems to be coming, too, although he'll never be a home run type. He hit only four out in 2005 , in part because he concentrated much more on stroking line drives. As long as he stays within himself, he's got the ability to be a good contact hitter up above.
>
> He's also adept in the field, with smooth reactions, good range and quick, sure hands. He has enough arm to play short and has on occasion although he's ideal at second and should remain there.

In all, he's the best at his position the Dodgers have in the minors He's been invited to spring training with the big club and probably will remain at Jacksonville to start 2006 with a move up to Las Vegas sometime during the season a strong possibility.
