Travis Denker Keys Big Vero Win

Vero Beach slugged Brevard County 9-5 Wednesday, using a six-run seventh inning to overcome a 5-1 lead. After beginning the season with a 1-9 record, the Dodgers have won six of the last nine. Columbus gave up a pair of early four-run innings and could never recover, losing 8-6. Las Vegas and Jacksonville enjoyed a day off.

Big Hit Keys Win-- Travis Denker's three-run double during a six-run seventh keyed the Vero Beach come-from-behind win over Brevard. Seven different Dodgers collected multiple hits and eight scored as they recorded a season-high 17 hits -- including seven doubles -- and nine runs.

Blake DeWitt led off the big seventh with a single, starting a string of six straight hits, Ryan Carter and Pat Borders singled to load the bases and Denker followed with a drive to deep left field to clear the bases and give Vero Beach their first lead, 6-5.

Cole Bruce doubled to score Denker and Jason Mooneyham's single and Jimmy Rohan's double gave Vero its ninth, and final, run. Rohan went 3-for-5, raising his average to a team-leading .350.

David Nicholson singled across two runs with two outs in the fifth that cut the 5-1 deficit to 5-3 and set up the winning rally in the seventh.

Julio Pimentel started for Vero and allowed five runs (four earned) in five innings. Adam Thomas (1-1) picked up the win after allowing two hits over 2.2 scoreless innings. Brian Akin recorded the last four outs, striking out three, to earn his first save and drop his ERA to 0.69
