James Loney, 1b, Las Vegas- Ever since he was set down from the big club, Loney has been on a batting tear but never more so than the week of June 11-17.

He stroked 15 hits in 29 at-bats for a .519 average that included one home run, one triple and two doubles, driving in four runs. On the season, Loney is hitting .368 with three homers and 30 RBI.

Scott Elbert, lhp, Vero Beach- With the promotion of Chad Billingsley, Elbert may well have inherited the title of the best pitching prospect in the organization.

He lived up to that billing on June 15 against St. Lucie in a game in which he went four innings, allowing just one hit, walking one and striking out six. Typically, the team scored no runs for him so he left in a scoreless tie but Vero won in the ninth.

Chosen to play in the Florida State League All-Star game, Elbert pitched one scoreless inning for the losing East squad. on June 17. His record is now 4-4, 2.65 with 73 strikeouts in 68 innings.
